10/17/09 Patriot Athletic Conference
Medina County teams appear to be primed to dominate Saturday. At the conference preview, which counts for half the overall title, both Black River and Buckeye left their mark. Buckeye swept the meet, winning the girls and boys divisions, which gives the Bucks the edge. The top eight runners in the boys meet were from Buckeye or Black River. The Pirates’ David Kindall won the meet and Buckeye’s Ryan Gallagher finished second.
“I’m gunning for Kindall,” Gallagher said after his thirdplace finish at the Medina Festival last Saturday. “He’s very good.” The Buckeye girls placed four in the top 10, led by Amanda Demczyk’s fourth-place finish.
Trisha Widenmeyer has been the Bucks’ top runner in each of the last two races. Black River’s Julia Wade was sixth at the meet and Jenna Periandri was eighth.
