Pirates finish strong in win over Cardinals

For the second time in 3 days the Black River Pirates had a game go down to the wire with the outcome determined by foul shooting.  This time the Pirates made their free throw's down the stretch and executed on both ends of the floor gutting out a tough 57-51 win over Brookside.  The Cardinals played spirited basketball all night shooting the lights out in their own gym making 10 3 pointers on the night but the Pirates got enough stops down the stretch and made some big plays to secure the victory.  Curtis Roupe led the way with 22 points and 15 rebounds along with Allan Benson's 19 points, 6 steals, and 4 assists.  The Pirates have now won 3 out of their last 5 games and improve to 5-11 on the season with a big game on the horizon for Tuesday night as they travel to Wellington to take on the rival Dukes.
